~ kOrEAn DeMilitarized Zone (DMZ)~

So,apa sebenarnye DMZ..disebabkan mls nak type panjg2..so ni copy paste from internet eh..hehe
“  The Demilitarized Zone which was established in 1953 as a part of the armistice agreement which brought an end to the active and constant hostilities between the forces of the Peoples Republics of Korea and China and those of the United Nations and their allies in a "police action" commonly known as the Korean War (1950-1953). It is about one hour north of downtown Seoul and is a two kilometer wide "No Man's Land" running along each side of what is probably the world's most heavily armed border. ”

The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea. The DMZ cuts the Korean Peninsula roughly in half, crossing the 38th parallel on an angle, with the west end of the DMZ lying south of the parallel and the east end lying north of it. It is 250 kilometres (160 miles) long, approximately 4 km (2.5 mi) wide and is the most heavily militarized border in the world. The Northern Limit Line, or NLL, is the de facto maritime boundary between North and South Korea in the Yellow Sea and the coastline and islands on both sides of the NLL are also heavily militarized. “

DMZ tours actly take ~5 hours including transit to/from Seoul & 4 combined DMZ/Panmunjom (JSA) tours take ~8 hours including transit to/from Seoul. So actly,me n my fren just went 4 DMZ tours..klu nak join Panmunjom 2 kne booked awal2 coz klu xsilap US military je bleh bwk..n it’s actly much nearer dgn north korea.. so tour begin with :

  • Imjingak : located 7 km from the Military Demarcation Line, is now at the forefront of tourism related to the Korean Conflict. It was built in 1972 with the hope that someday unification would be possible. Three-storied Imjingak is surrounded by several Monuments, Unification Park and North Korea Center… so kat sni ade Unification Bridge & Freedom Bridge.. ade gak the Gyeongui Train Line which was destroyed during the Korean Conflict in 1950..tgk train smokestack yg dah ditebu2k lubang kesan tembakn..
freedom bridge

  • Freedom Bridge : Standing behind Mangbaedan at Imjingak Square, the bridge was given its present name by former President Seung-man Lee as 12,773 Korean War prisoners returned home to freedom over this bridge. It is said that the prisoners were transported by car up to the Gyeongui-seon Line Iron Bridge and crossed over the Bridge of Freedom by foot. The bridge is the only remaining legacy of peace in the Korean War as it holds the symbolic significance of the "Return to Freedom
  •  3rd tunnel : the 3rd tunnel was discovered on October 17, 1978. It is located 52km from Seoul. Approximately 10,000 soldiers can move through this tunnel in 1 hour. When this tunnel was discovered, North Koreans insisted steadfastly that it was made by South Koreans to invade North Korea, but this proved to be false.. mnarek btul masuk tunnel ni..xde pape pun..but d idea of infiltration towards south korea 2 sgt best..
  •  Dora Observatory : From this observation platform, North Korean military personnel are visible, and so are the highlights of Gaeseong and the Geumgangsan Diamond Mountains. Xbleh bwk kamera mlebihi line..sebab..korg p sendiri nanti dia terangkan..confidential..hahaha..but u can see north korea dkt dpn mata..fuisyoo..bleh tgk propaganda village..freedom village..n bukit2 north korea yg gondol..n menara yg sekat penyiaran kluar n masuk tv n radio ke dalam/luar north korea.
The world's third-tallest flagpole flying a 270 kg (595 lb) flag of North Korea. It's 160 m (525 ft) in height, over Kijŏng-dong, near Panmunjom.
    • uninhabited Potemkin village built at great expense in the 1950s in a propaganda effort to encourage South Korean defection. The town was oriented so that the bright blue roofs and white sides of the buildings next to the massive DPRK flag would be the most distinguishing features when viewed from across the border. Scrutiny with modern telescopic lenses, however, reveals that the buildings are mere concrete shells lacking window glass or even interior rooms, with building lights turned on and off at set times and empty sidewalks swept by a skeleton crew of caretakers in an effort to preserve the illusion of activity.

"not d last station from south, but d 1st station toward d north"

  •  Dorasan station : Located 30 meters from the South Korean boundary fence of the northern part of the civilian controlled area, Dora Mountain Train Station is the northernmost Gyeongui-seon (Seoul-Sinuiju) Line train station in South Korea. It attracted worldwide attention with the visit of United States President Bush on February 20, 2002 (20022002). When the South-North traffic becomes a reality with the reconnection of Gyeongui-seon Line, Dora Station will play a central role in the Asia-Europe Iron Silk Road that will connect with not only North Korea but also the greater countries of China, Russia and beyond.
